Shannyn Reigle
Shannyn Reigle is from Tampa, Florida, and graduated summa cum laude from Florida State University with a B.S. in Political Science and minors in International Relations and Social Entrepreneurship. She spent her freshman year in Valencia, Spain, where she developed fluency in Spanish. Upon returning, she interned at a non-profit focused on health education and conducted grant research. She was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and Women in Pre-Law Society, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, and FSU’s Garnet and Gold Scholar society.
Shannyn went on to earn a Master’s in International Affairs with Distinction at FSU, concentrating in Public Administration. During her master’s, she served as a Teaching Assistant and spent a summer in Prague studying human rights violations during the Holocaust. Her graduate research spanned topics including feminist legal advocacy at the ICTY, the efficacy of Bangladesh’s climate policy, and the trajectory of Russian foreign policy.
After graduating, Shannyn solo-traveled across Europe, South America, and Oceania for six months before working as a legal assistant at a defense firm in Tampa. Most recently, she spent a year in Seoul, South Korea, teaching English to elementary students while studying the Korean language and traveling throughout Asia.
At Georgetown, Shannyn plans to focus on international law and human rights, with a particular interest in how legal systems can be tools for post-conflict accountability and gender equity. In her free time, she enjoys classical music, traveling, fantasy novels, K-dramas, and spending time with her two cats.
