Thomas Song was born in London, UK but moved to Southern California when he was 4 where he grew up. After high school, he attended the University of Chicago and graduated in June 2023, majoring in Political Science and double minoring in East Asian Languages and Civilizations and Spanish. In college, he got involved with several on campus organizations, including Mock Trial, the Institute of Politics, New Americans, the Pozen Center for Human Rights, the Luther Foster Public Interest Internship Program, and UChicago Social Sector Program. Through these experiences, he combined his interests in public interest and immigration advocacy, political organizing, social justice, and internationally-oriented community building.
After college, he participated in the Fulbright US-Mexico Business Program and lived in Mexico City for a year from August 2023 to August 2024. In Mexico, he worked in the Human Capital Department at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aíza y Enríquez Abogados, a leading local law firm, while also taking masters classes in Law and Public Policy at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónoma de México (ITAM). He was entirely immersed in Mexican culture and the Spanish language during the duration of the Fulbright, crystallizing his passion and awareness for global professional and academic opportunities.
Upon returning to the US, he moved to New York City to work as a litigation and debt settlement paralegal for Consumer Legal Group, while also pursuing his long-term goal of attending law school.
In his free time, Thomas loves to learn different languages, explore different cuisines and restaurants, travel, and immerse himself in other cultures. He speaks English, Korean, Spanish, French, and Portuguese fluently, while also having intermediate proficiency in Italian, Catalan, and Mandarin Chinese. Thomas is thrilled to be joining the Georgetown University Law Center and Global Law Scholars community as an incoming J.D. Candidate (Class of 2028) and looks forward to leaning on the GLS community and network to explore his interests in international arbitration and international trade law.
