Zibaa Uyghur Adil
Zibaa Uyghur Adil is from the San Francisco Bay Area, California and received a B.A. in International Development Studies with a minor in European Languages and Transcultural Studies (French/Francophone) from the University of California, Los Angeles. Zibaa graduated Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Highest Honors.
While at UCLA, Zibaa interned with Utopia 56, a French refugee aid organization, in the Paris branch’s family department. There, she worked to connect unhoused migrant couples, women, and children with solidarity housing arrangements, necessities donations, and access to legal aid in processing asylum requests. She also completed two
research theses: one in French on the intersection of familial precarious migration and development, and a senior thesis on European policy impacts on migration from Côte d’Ivoire. On campus, Zibaa was active in the Writer’s Den, UCLA’s creative writing club, and managed its volunteering program, bringing writing curriculum to underserved students in LA. She also served her California Uyghur community by directing a summer youth program in the Bay Area and teaching at the Los Angeles Uyghur children’s weekend language school.
Between undergrad and attending Georgetown Law, Zibaa worked as a Market development Program Assistant at Bryant Christie, Inc., an agricultural, food, and beverage industry international trade advisory and market development firm, where she previously interned over three spring terms. At BCI, Zibaa researched international markets, import
laws, and regulatory requirements, and wrote grant proposals and reports for USDA Foreign Agricultural Service export programs. In her free time, Zibaa enjoys volleyball, crocheting, and volunteering at the dog shelter. She is passionate about language learning, teaching, and preservation, and shares Uyghur music translation videos in English and French on Bulbul Nawasi, a YouTube project she began with her mom.
