Zoe Owens graduated magna cum laude from Wellesley College in 2022 with a degree in Political Science and Chinese Language and Culture. She began studying Mandarin in middle school; further study drove her to understand the history, culture, and politics of China. She began her Russian course her sophomore year with an intensive basics course and pursued it through the rest of her undergraduate career. These languages inspired her to reorient towards a global understanding of policy, law, and regulations, with a particular focus on China and Russia.

After being accepted into the Wellesley in Washington program, Zoe worked with the global nonprofit organization ReState to explore innovations in governance strategies and educate inquisitive minds about the organization’s research. She also focused her efforts close to her native Georgia by interning for Informed Georgians for Justice to spread accurate information about local and statewide sheriff, district attorney, and solicitor general elections. In her spare time, she is an avid knitter, and can frequently be found with a cup of coffee and a nineteenth century Russian novel.
