Area High Schools Compete in Georgetown Law’s 47th Annual Street Law Mock Trial Tournament

April 8, 2019

The D.C. Street Law Clinic at Georgetown Law will hold its 47th Annual Street Law Semi-Finals on April 9. Over 200 area high schoolers from 11 schools in the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County have spent the last several months working with Georgetown Law students to learn about practical law. Now, 26 teams will go head to head as lawyers and witnesses in the second of two mock trial rounds held at the DC Superior Court. Based on scoring from those rounds, the finalists from each side will make their case at the tournament finals on the evening of April 11 at Sidley Austin, LLP.

Since 1972, Georgetown Law’s Street Law program has brought Georgetown Law students into area public high schools to give students who may be vulnerable to negative experiences with the law the opportunity to understand the law, and to be empowered by that understanding.
