Taxation LL.M.

Annually ranked among the top two programs in the nation, the Graduate Program at Georgetown offers a unique combination of world-class full-time and adjunct tax faculty, more courses than any other program in the nation, and the opportunity to study tax law in Washington, D.C., where the nation’s laws are made, interpreted and enforced.

Georgetown’s Tax LL.M. graduates are in strong demand by employers, confirming the stellar reputation that our program enjoys in the United States and abroad.  Georgetown’s unparalleled externship program allows students to receive academic credit and enhance their resumes by working with some of Washington’s most prestigious tax employers, including major international law firms, Big 4 accounting firms, the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Treasury, and the United States Tax Court, among others.  Our hands-on, practical approach to education designed to help prepare our students for sophisticated tax practice makes the Georgetown experience unique and different from any other Tax LL.M. program.

The program is open to both U.S.-trained and foreign-trained lawyers, and may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.  We also offer an online Executive LL.M. program designed for working professionals, as well as an online MSL in Taxation program for non-lawyers.  Georgetown also offers Certificate programs in International Taxation, State and Local Taxation, Estate Planning and Employee Benefits, which can be completed together with a taxation degree program or on a stand-alone basis.

We encourage you to contact us for more information about our program, and to learn more about the Georgetown advantage and what the degree can do for your career.
