Prof. Banfi is Director of Strategy at Ríos-Rivers, an organization dedicated to advancing reproductive justice in Latin America. She previously worked at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington D.C. for 15 years, where she carried out multiple responsibilities. Prof. Banfi served as coordinator of the Admissibility Section and assistant coordinator of the Merits Section in charge of the drafting of merits decisions and the litigation before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Her previous experience includes a fellowship at the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (Chile), and an internship at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Costa Rica) and at the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (Brussels). A Uruguayan national, Prof. Banfi holds a B.A. in International Relations, a J.D. equivalent from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay), and a master’s degree in Human Rights from the Université de Paris II, Panthéon-Assas (France).
