Jamal Mtshali
Jamal is a 1L student and a member of Cohort 8 in the Business Law Scholars program. After law school, he plans on practicing transactional law, with interest in Private Equity and VC funds. On campus, Jamal is a 1L Delegate as a member of the Student Bar Association.
For his 1L summer, Jamal will be joining Sidley Austin’s New York office in the private equty and M&A practices.
Background
Prior to Georgetown Law, Jamal worked in financial services for eight years in New York. Most recently, he was an Investment Consultant at Flushing Bank, where he was the lead consultant for Bank’s offices in Bensonhurst and five other Brooklyn locations; building investment portfolios for diverse clientele, comprised of assets with various risk-return and liquidity attributes: stocks, mutual funds, bonds, structured products, annuities, etc. Advising clients with various profiles and needs with regard to liquidity, risk tolerance, ESG, time horizons, education spending needs, tax considerations, and insurance needs.
Jamal has prior experience as Vice President of Investment Research for BBR Partners, a Senior Investment Analyst at the JPB Foundation, and an Associate Analyst at Moody’s Investment Service.
Jamal graduated from Amherst College with a degree in Philosophy.
Beyond Law School
Jamal is from New York. In his free time, he enjoys exercise, reading, learning languages, and traveling.
