Peter Irvine is Deputy Director, Office of Aviation Analysis, and Executive Lead for Aviation Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Professor Irvine serves as chief operating officer of a busy office of 30 professionals with mixed professional backgrounds in regulations, analytics, industry affairs, law, and policy. Professor Irvine is an experienced practitioner in the areas of airline competition, uncrewed aerial systems (drones), international aviation, airports, labor, and multi-modal transportation. He served as visiting attorney at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and worked for two members of Congress handling transportation, labor, and international affairs issues.
