Bill Wortmann is Of Counsel with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Professor Wortmann has been with the firm since graduating from law school, spending his first 13 years in Los Angeles and transferring to the Washington, D.C. office in 2015. He is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and focuses his practice on public company equity and debt capital market transitions, including both public offerings and private placements. Professor Wortmann has worked on more than 20 IPOs, several of which were among the largest in the country that year, and a number of transitions valued in excess of $1 billion. Professor Wortmann also regularly advises companies and boards of directors on securities law, corporate governance and regulatory issues. Professor Wortmann has an active pro bono practice and advises non-profit organizations on formation and corporate governance matters.
Professor Wortmann earned a J.D. degree magna cum laude in 2002 from the University of Minnesota, School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an Articles Editor of the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Professor Wortmann is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the District of Columbia.
