Guidance Related to COVID-19

Georgetown Law continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and respond in support of the Law Center community.  In consideration of our students, faculty, and staff the Office of the Registrar will be transitioning to remote operations beginning Monday, March 16, 2020.  For assistance, please send an email to lawreg@georgetown.edu as customer service by phone will be unavailable.

  • Transcripts and certifications will not be available for drop off or pick up.  Requests should be faxed, emailed, mailed or sent by Fedex.  Transcript requests will be processed twice a week.  Certifications will be processed on the normal 3-5 business day schedule.
  • Replacement and duplicate diploma services will be unavailable until we return to the office.

Please note that we do not make name changes retroactively after a student is no longer in a degree program or enrolled at Georgetown Law.  If your name has changed since you graduated, your diploma will still read your name as of when you graduated from Georgetown Law.  Learn more information about name change requests.

The cost of a duplicate and/or replacement diploma is $60.00, payable when the request is made.  You may pay submit your payment online through this form.  Checks should be made out to Georgetown University Law Center, and mailed to:

To guard against fraud, all duplicate diplomas will indicate the following notation (with the date the order is issued): “Duplicate Issued XX-XX-XXXX.”  This indication will appear in the lower right-hand corner of the diploma and is non-negotiable.  This notation will not appear on replacement diplomas if the original diploma is sent back to the Office of the Registrar.

Orders for duplicate and/or replacement diplomas will take a minimum of 6 weeks to be processed by our vendor.  Expedition is NOT available.  Duplicate and/or replacement diplomas will not be released to any graduate with an account balance.

Diploma Translations

Diplomas are printed in Latin and cannot be printed in any other language.  To request an official diploma translation, a student must complete the Certification Request Form:

All certifications require a signed written request by the student.  Inclusion of your GOCard or your social security number, daytime phone number, and delivery instructions are essential for timely processing.
