For interested students, Georgetown offers courses such as Advanced Legal Research Techniques for Scholarship and Seminar Papers, which teach students how to create a research plan for legal scholarship. Students may also improve their scholarly writing by taking Introduction to Scholarly Note Writing or an Introduction to Scholarly Editing.

These courses assist students in discovering, understanding, and experiencing the writing process involved in publishing a scholarly note from topic selection and effective scholarly research through design choices, drafting and revision strategies. In addition, the Scholarly Editing course assists students as they learn to analyze scholarly writing from the editor’s perspective and to edit articles to achieve the best balance among the author’s intent, the reader’s needs, and the journal’s production.
