Daniel Kim
Daniel is an evening J.D. candidate and 2L at Georgetown Law in Cohort 7 of the Business Law Scholars program. His goal is to practice transactional law at the intersection of climate finance (project finance, structured finance, impact investing, blended finance) and the global energy transition. On campus, he is involved as a Fellow at the Center on Transnational Business and the Law and for the Institute of International Economic Law. He is also an executive board member of the Georgetown Energy Law Group.
Concurrently, Daniel serves as the Senior Partnerships Manager for the USAID Climate Finance for Development Accelerator, where he designs, manages and implements global climate mitigation and adaptation projects in emerging economies. The project aims to mobilize $2.5B in public and private capital towards financing global climate outcomes.
Background
Daniel has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Sociology from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Arts with Concentrations in International Political Economy & Development Economics from Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
Prior to his current role at USAID, Daniel worked as an Economic Growth and Trade Practice Specialist at Chemonics International, overseeing a global portfolio of 20+ USAID projects in economic growth and trade, providing technical advisory services for business development, and delivering critical management and training support for a USAID innovative finance project.
Beyond Law School
Daniel is from Goyang City, South Korea. In his free time, he enjoys reading, listening to jazz, playing the keyboard and singing, photography, exploring new coffee joints, and thrifting. He is fluent in Korean, and intermediate in Spanish and Mandarin.
