Emily Michaels
Emily is a 1L student and a member of Cohort 8 in the Business Law Scholars program. After law school, she plans on practicing corporate law, and has specific interest in tax law.
On campus, Emily is involved as a member of Corporate and Financial Law Organization, Military Law Society, and Women’s Legal Alliance.
Background
Emily graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Administration. During undergrad, she was in the Army ROTC, was a volunteer firefighter, and was a member of Forté Foundation and Seal & Serpent Society. She was the Director of Donor Relations for Hotel Ezra Cornell Annual Conference where she created and executed a strategic donor outreach plan for a hospitality conference of 200 industry professionals, resulting in over $200,000 in cash and gift-in-kind donations. During her final year, Emily was the Lead Teaching Assistant for Finance and Foodservice Management classes and managed, trained, and helped select a team of eight teaching assistants. She spent summers interning in hospitality and corporate finance.
After graduation, Emily spent time doing Army training to become a more effective officer and platoon leader. In her unit, she oversees and delegates work orders for a platoon of 54 automotive maintainers. She also spent time as a Guest Relations Agent for Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown, MA.
For her 1L summer, Emily will work at Marriott International rotating through their legal department’s various in-house functions.
Beyond Law School
Emily is from Edgartown, Massachusetts. In her free time, she enjoys running, swimming, reading, and baking desserts.
