Zhuoqiao (Johnny) Yin
Zhuoqiao (Johnny) Yin is a 1L student and a member of Cohort 8 in the Business Law Scholars program. After graduation, he plans to work in corporate transactions, particularly focusing on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and debt finance.
On campus, Johnny is involved in the First Generation Student Union, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and Corporate and Financial Law Organization.
Background
Johnny graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a degree in Philosophy with High Honors, completing a 20-page thesis on Kantian moral dilemmas. Outside the classroom, he competed on the NYU Taekwondo Team and reached the quarterfinals at the 2023 Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference. He also served as the leader and drummer of the Lonely Island Band, performing at various venues.
Prior to law school, Johnny interned at a personal injury firm in New York, serving as the initial client contact and drafting comprehensive demand packets for settlement negotiations. He also worked at an international law firm’s Capital Markets group in Beijing, where he conducted extensive due diligence for equity financing projects and IPOs.
For his 1L summer, Johnny will serve as a judicial intern for Chief Justice Fader at the Supreme Court of Maryland.
Beyond Law School
Johnny is from Beijing, China and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. He loves music and has visited every jazz bar in Beijing, Washington D.C., and New York (almost). He is also a dedicated Chelsea fan and enjoys soccer, tennis, skiing, hiking, and swimming.
