What's Happening Next Door?
If you have visited the Georgetown Law campus, then you have noticed the construction taking place on 2nd street, next to the Gewirz Student Center and on the freeway below. This is the first stage of the Capitol Crossing project, a multi phase development project that will be under construction for the foreseeable future. The construction will take place across the street from Gewirz and above the I-395 roadway creating 2.2 million square feet of business space, apartments, etc... You can read more about the project by clicking the link above.
To date, the project has created some inconveniences for Law Center students, including occasional or periodic noise, but it has generally been manageable and on par with what one should expect from a major downtown construction project. Ultimately, Georgetown Law will benefit from the new retail opportunities created by such an immense project.
