Conference: Application of US Standards to International Trade

As part of Dominican Week 2024, CAROLA and the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) organized an event to discuss key topics related to international trade and labor. The event featured insights from a distinguished panel of experts, including Luis Miguel De Camps, the Minister of Labor of the Dominican Republic; Álvaro Santos, CAROLA's Faculty Director; Everett Eissenstat, Partner in the Public Policy Practice Group at Squire Patton Boggs (SPB); León Patiño, Vice President of International & Legal Affairs at PALMCORP; and William Malamud, Executive Vice President of AMCHAMDR. The session concluded with the launch of the AMCHAMDR Investor’s Guide, which provides essential information for investors interested in the growing opportunities in the Dominican Republic.

The Rapid Response Mechanism Forum

On March 28, 2025, the Center for the Advancement of the Rule of Law in the Americas (CAROLA) and the Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL), in collaboration with El Colegio de México, hosted a timely and engaging conference at Georgetown Law focused on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement’s (USMCA) Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (RRM). The event gathered experts from academia, labor, business, NGOs, and the public sector to discuss the tool’s effectiveness and potential improvements.
