2026 Samuel Dash Conference on Human Rights  – Futures at Stake: Climate Change, Human Rights, and Youth Advocacy

Location: 500 First St NW, 9th Floor
Date: March 31, 2026
Time:

Each year, the Samuel Dash Conference on Human Rights(This link opens in a new tab) brings together leading figures in the human rights field to discuss and debate a current human rights issue. Named in honor of the late Sam Dash, a longtime professor at Georgetown Law, the conference is our flagship annual event. Join us this year for a critical conversation on climate justice, human rights, and youth advocacy. Building on the 2025 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice affirming that environmental protection is a precondition to human rights, Indigenous and youth activists will share how climate change is reshaping their communities and fueling action. Legal experts will explore how recent landmark decisions can drive impact in courts and legislatures around the world, and how we can confront barriers like corporate capture and climate disinformation in the United States.
