Andrew W. Laing currently serves as Appellate Counsel to the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Laing received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Harvard University, and his law degree from the New York University School of Law. After graduation from law school, Mr. Laing served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patty Shwartz, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Following his clerkship, Mr. Laing joined the Criminal Division through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. Mr. Laing served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia before prosecuting public corruption and election-related offenses across the country as a trial attorney with the Criminal Division’s Public Integrity Section. He then handled federal criminal appellate litigation while serving in the Criminal Division’s Appellate Section.
