Mr. Bassin is a Senior Policy Advisor focused on Transitional Justice for the US Department of State’s Office of Global Criminal Justice where he provides expert policy advice on issues related to transitional justice, as well as issues related to international criminal law, international human rights law and international humanitarian law more generally. He has previously worked for organizations including the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), the World Bank, the International Organization for Migration, and Mercy Corps providing expert technical advice and support on issues related to transitional justice, peace building and conflict mitigation and management. Mr. Bassin’s work has engaged with issues in Sri Lanka, Burma, Nepal, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands, Colombia, Guatemala, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Sierra Leone, and Rwanda. Mr. Bassin has published on issues related to transitional justice, peace building, human rights, institutional reform, and international criminal law.
