Ben Golant is currently Chief Counsel for IP and Legal Policy at the Entertainment Software Association in Washington, DC. There, he represents the video game industry before the US Congress, courts, the executive branch, and government agencies involved in IP policy, ecommerce/online platform matters, and consumer technology issues. Professor Golant started at ESA in October 2015 after a long career working in senior legal roles at three US agencies: (1) the Federal Communications Commission, (2) the United States Copyright Office, and (3) the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is an expert on copyright, technology, and content regulation matters. Professor Golant has also taught classes on a wide range of IP and technology topics at the Columbus School of Law – Catholic University in Washington DC. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he focused on communications law, and his BA/BS in social psychology and advertising from Boston University.
