Ben Golant is currently Senior Director for Global Games Policy for one of the world’s largest tech companies. Before that, he was Chief Counsel for IP and Legal Policy at the Entertainment Software Association in Washington, D.C. for seven years. There, he represented the video game industry before the US Congress, courts, the executive branch, and government agencies involved in IP policy, ecommerce/online platform matters, and consumer technology issues. Before joining the private sector, Professor Golant had a long career working in senior legal roles at three US agencies: (1) the Federal Communications Commission, (2) the United States Copyright Office, and (3) the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is an expert on technology, content creation, and public policy. Professor Golant has also taught classes on a wide range of creative topics at the Columbus School of Law – Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he focused on communications law, and his BA/BS in social psychology and advertising from Boston University.
