Bruce Kuhlik is a retired attorney with experience in private practice, the pharmaceutical industry, government, and the nonprofit sector. He was a partner in the law firm of Covington & Burling, where he chaired the firm’s food and drug and life science practice groups; general counsel of Merck & Co., Inc. and of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America; senior advisor to the Commissioner at the Food and Drug Administration; assistant to the solicitor general at the Department of Justice, where he briefed and argued cases before the US Supreme Court; and chief legal officer at Pathfinder International, a nongovernmental organization devoted to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights. He currently serves on the boards of Pathfinder and other nonprofit organizations and on a committee of the National Academy of Medicine. He clerked for Judge Levin H. Campbell of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
