David C. Horwitz is the Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement Manager for the Experience Corps intergenerational literacy tutoring program at AARP Foundation, where he develops and implements strategies to improve internal and external communications, volunteer satisfaction, and community and partner engagement. Previously, Professor Horwitz managed global outreach campaigns and engaged tens of thousands of volunteers to annually reach over 50 million people with positive messages about science. Professor Horwitz is an experienced communications practitioner with an emphasis in applied scientific, health, and organizational communications, and brings a strategic approach to digital outreach, community engagement, and program management. He has practical experience in science communications, research experience in health communications, and teaching experience in public speaking, group communication, and campaigns. Professor Horwitz is also an appointed Commissioner for the Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism and Partnerships and volunteers his time with various community-based organizations around Washington, DC. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from University of California, Davis and a Master of Arts in Communications from California State University, Fresno.
