On February 17, 2020, Dolores Dorsainvil was appointed by Governor Lawrence Hogan as Judge to the District Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Judge Dorsainvil presides over civil, criminal, landlord tenant, and domestic violence matters. Judge Dorsainvil previously served as an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel where she investigated and prosecuted D.C. lawyers for ethical misconduct. Prior to that, she was formerly with the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland investigating and prosecuting ethics complaints against Maryland lawyers. Judge Dorsainvil is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center and American University’s Washington College of Law where she teaches professional responsibility/legal ethics to law students. Judge Dorsainvil is the Immediate Past Chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Professional Regulation, Co-Chair of the Women’s Committee of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, Past Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association (2014-2015), and an appointed member of the Maryland Professionalism & Civility Committee. Judge Dorsainvil serves on the Board of Directors for the Prince George’s County Bar Association. She teaches the mandatory Professionalism Course for new admittees to the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars, and is the Past Co-Chair of the Ethics & Professionalism Committee of the ABA Young Lawyers Division. Judge Dorsainvil has received significant recognition for her work and dedication and is the recipient of the Finalist award for the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division National Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year 2011, the ABA Rosner and Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award 2012, the 2012 Edward F. Shea Professionalism Award, the Daily Record’s Maryland Top 100 Women awards (2013 & 2015), and the Daily Record’s Leadership in Law. Judge Dorsainvil also Chair’s her family’s non-profit organization, The Dorsainvil Foundation, which provides free medical care and educational supplies to the residents of Haiti by way of annual medical mission trips. The Dorsainvil Foundation owns its own medical clinic in Arcahaie, Haiti and has partnered with The Tree of Life Orphanage to provide educational and medical support to the students and teachers there.
