Edward Kelly, now retired from Government Service after more than 30 years, was an Appellate Immigration Judge (Board Member) at the Board of Immigration Appeals, the highest administrative tribunal on immigration law in the United States and a component of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.
He served in several immigration positions in the Executive Office for Immigration Review over the last thirty years, including tenures as Deputy Chief Immigration Judge, Assistant Chief Immigration Judge, Senior Counsel and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, Acting Director of the Office of Administration, and senior legal advisor and attorney advisor to the Board of Immigration Appeals.
His experiences outside the agency include positions as an assistant counsel to the United States House of Representatives, Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, and International Law, and as a high school teacher of humane letters. Prior to his legal career, he served as a volunteer teacher with the United States Peace Corps in Gabon, Africa.
