Elizabeth T. Simon is an Associate General Counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, where she leads a team of ethics advisors in advising the firm on ethics and compliance-related matters. She serves as counselor to the firmโ€™s attorneys on matters including client and matter intake, engagement and disengagement issues, policy development and enforcement, conflicts of interest, and lateral partner intake.

Professor Simon is an experienced litigator, having spent her legal career prior to joining Akin representing clients in matters involving legal ethics, professional liability, insurance coverage, intellectual property, and business torts.

As a legal ethics advisor, she has counseled lawyers and bar applicants on ethical and professional responsibility obligations and represented clients in bar investigations, disciplinary proceedings, fee disputes, and bar admissions matters.

She is the former Chair of the D.C. Barโ€™s Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee and the former Chair of the D.C. Bar Legal Ethics Committee. She has been reappointed as a member of the D.C.Bar Legal Ethics Committee. She is a member of the ABAโ€™s Standing Committee on Professionalism andthe ABA Center for Professional Responsibilityโ€™s CLE Committee. She is a longtime member of theAssociation of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (โ€œAPRLโ€). She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Discipline. She speaks extensively on ethics issues.

Professor Simon received her B.A. and M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Albany Law School.
