Errol R. Patterson is a trial lawyer with over 30 years of litigation experience in federal and state courts. Before joining the faculty at Georgetown Law, Professor Patterson was a Partner at Newman & Holtzinger, P.C. and later Of Counsel at Steptoe and Johnson, LLP. He has successfully prosecuted and defended a variety of civil cases, including complex contract, product liability, insurance coverage and mass tort disputes and claims. Over the course of his career, he has advised and provided legal and strategic counsel to boards of directors, executive, senior management and in-house counsel of Fortune 50 domestic corporations and large non-profits. He has also advised and counseled foreign governments and state-owned enterprises in connection with World Bank financed projects. Professor Patterson has been actively involved in pro bono service, including claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and landlord-tenant, discrimination, voter rights and labor disputes. He has appeared as a panelist at the ABA Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee CLE Seminars. Professor Patterson holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and worked for several years as an engineer for Monsanto Company before law school. Professor Patterson obtained his JD degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He is an avid supporter of Georgetown men’s basketball and is a member of the Hoya Hoop Club board.
