A.B., cum laude, M.A., Georgetown University; J.D, with honors, University of Chicago. Professor Byron is Deputy General Counsel for Litigation at the Federal Trade Commission. He was Rules Committee Chief Counsel with the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts from 2022-2025. Before joining the judiciary, he served for 25 years with the Appellate Staff, Civil Division, of the U.S. Department of Justice, as an appellate litigator and supervisory attorney, most recently as Senior Appellate Counsel for National Security. Previously, he was an associate with the firm of Mayer, Brown, & Platt, and law clerk to the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Professor Byron is an elected member of the American Law Institute.
