Itunu Sofidiya is the Director of the RISE program. She teaches Advanced legal research and Legal Research Skills for Practice. Prior to her role in RISE, she served as a Reference Librarian at the Georgetown Law Library. Professor Sofidiya joined Georgetown in January of 2019.
Prior to joining Georgetown, Professor Sofidiya served as the Learning Resources Librarian and a Legal Research Professor at Texas Southern University. She has also worked as a Staff Attorney for a non-profit and an Associate Attorney for a firm that dealt with immigration and criminal law matters (specifically death penalty appeals).
Professor Sofidiya earned her B.A., from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She holds a Masters of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University where she became a member of the Epsilon Omega Epsilon Honor Society, and a J.D., with honors, from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she was a member of the Innocence Project.
She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, and of the bar of Maryland.
