Jacob Derr is an associate attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of K&L Gates LLP, where he works in the firm’s asset management and investment funds practice group. In this role, he counsels registered investment companies, their investment advisors, and their boards of directors regarding corporate, transactional, securities, and other regulatory and compliance matters. This includes assisting with the creation, structuring, and registration of new investment companies and advisors and representing them in matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory entities. Jacob earned his undergraduate degrees, summa cum laude, from Ohio University, and his law degree, magna cum laude, from William & Mary Law School, where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers, and served as Lead Notes Editor of the William & Mary Law Review, Managing Editor of the William & Mary Policy Review, and represented clients before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the D.C. and Eleventh Circuits as a member of the William & Mary Appellate and Supreme Court Clinic.
