Jim Hogan is a Managing Director with Andersen LLC in its national tax office based in Washington, DC. Jim retired from the Office of Chief Counsel in the Internal Revenue Service in April 2014. During his 30-year career with the Internal Revenue Service, Jim served as Branch Chief and Senior Technician Reviewer in the branch that has jurisdiction over transfer tax issues. Jim was the drafting attorney on several regulations under Section 2601 of the Internal RevenueCode. Before attending law school, he worked for the international accounting firm Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG). Jim has been a frequent speaker at events sponsored by the California Bar and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants on estate planning matters. Jim received his Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University, his Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his Juris Doctorate from Catholic University. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland bar associations and a certified public account before practicing law.
