Janine N. Slade is a government relations manager with Cummins, Inc. –a Fortune 500 corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products. At Cummins, Ms. Slade focuses on international and trade related issues affecting the business. Prior to joining Cummins, Ms. Slade served for nearly a decade at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At DHS Ms. Slade held a number of roles including: serving as an attorney advisor with the Office of the General Counsel working primarily on DHS’s participation in the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States(CFIUS), CFIUS Mitigation, and Team Telecom, and counseling clients in the Border, Immigration and Trade Policy office. Prior to that, Ms. Slade served as the Acting Director for the Department’s office of Foreign Investment Risk Management–the policy office responsible for administering the CFIUS process for DHS. Ms. Slade obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude) from Howard University in 2006, and a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law in 2009, where she was appointed captain of the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Moot Court team. She currently serves as Vice President for the Howard University Alumni Association of Prince George’s County, Maryland and is an active member of the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.
