Jean Xiao Timmerman is a Senior Financial Institution and Policy Analyst in the Policy Planning and Strategy section under the Division of Supervision and Regulation at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. In this role, she contributes to the development of the Federal Reserve’s medium- and long-term regulatory policy agenda. Previously, she was an attorney in the Chief Counsel’s Office at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where she worked on bank regulatory matters. During the pandemic, she served as an attorney in the Banking and Legal Division of the Department of Treasury, where she helped to launch the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), a multibillion-dollar federal program. She started her career in 2017, serving as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She received her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School and her Ph.D. in law and economics—as well as her B.A.—from Vanderbilt University.
