Professor Nonaka is a senior counsel in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In this role, she investigates and litigates securities fraud and reporting violations. Specific areas of her SEC practice include accounting fraud, disclosure fraud, foreign bribery (the FCPA), investment company/investment advisor violations, market manipulation, and insider trading. In 2016, Professor Nonaka was detailed from the SEC to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of Virginia to serve as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. While at the USAO, she investigated and prosecuted criminal matters including bank and wire fraud, identity theft, drug importation conspiracies, and illegal reentry after deportation cases. Professor Nonaka graduated from Villanova University School of Law in 2008 but had the pleasure of spending her 3L year at GULC as a visiting student.
