B.A., Franklin and Marshall College; L.L.M., New York University; J.D., Rutgers University.  Prof. Goodman is a partner at K&L Gates where he advises leading universities, foundations, businesses and other major institutions throughout the country in matters concerning non-profit organizations, retirement and health law, taxation, fiduciary responsibilities, business transactions and executive compensation.  Prof. Goodman’s clients include prominent colleges and universities, academic medical centers and other non-profit institutions and governmental entities, as well as for-profit businesses (both privately and publicly held), professional groups and individuals.

In addition to practicing law, Prof. Goodman has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University and an Adjunct Professor of Public Affairs at Columbia University. He is a frequent lecturer on issues related to non-profit organizations, retirement and health law and taxation, and he has served as an instructor in the continuing education programs the IRS provides for its agents. In addition, he has written numerous articles on tax-related issues, a text on retirement and benefit planning, and has been a contributing author for CCH Financial and Estate Planning, The Exempt Organization Tax Review, and The Tax Lawyer.

Prof. Goodman is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and has served as Chair of the Compensation and Benefits Section – Exempt Organization Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation. He has also served on the Healthcare Advisory Board of the University of California at Irvine Graduate School of Management, as a member of the National Advisory Board for CCH Financial and Estate Planning, and as Chair of the Tax Section of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
