T. Timothy Tuerff is an international tax lawyer who has served multinational corporate and investment fund clients, addressing international tax issues in the context of corporate and partnership business structures. Professor Tuerff has acted as an international tax advisor analyzing international business operations, mergers and acquisitions, financing, and treasury functions. His experience in these areas led him to testify before the U.S. Congress Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures concerning the International Tax Reform Discussion Draft addressing a territorial system of taxation.

Professor Tuerff is a retired partner of Deloitte Tax LLC. Prior to retiring from the partnership in 2018, Professor Tuerff served as an international tax partner and as the Managing Partner of the Washington National Tax Office. In this role, he led the Washington National Tax practice in providing tax analysis with respect to specific client matters as well guidance concerning current tax developments and the impact on Deloitte clients. Professor Tuerff also served on the Board of Directors of Deloitte LLP. In addition to private practice, Professor Tuerff formerly served as Special Assistant to the Chief Counsel and Special Assistant to the Associate Chief Counsel (International) of the Internal Revenue Service.

Professor Tuerff has contributed to several tax periodicals, including Tax Notes and the Practicing Law Institute journal, Tax Planning for Domestic & Foreign Partnerships, LLCs, Joint Ventures & Other Strategic Alliances, the American Bar Association, International Franchising Journal and the BNA Tax Management Portfolio, Outbound Tax Planning for U.S. Multinational Corporations, No.6380. Professor Tuerff has spoken at seminars on international tax issues addressing such groups as Tax Executives Institute, International Fiscal Association, and the Tax Council Policy Institute Symposium.

Professor Tuerff is a graduate of Indiana University School of Law and School of Business. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and is a District of Columbia certified public accountant.
