Professor Nagel combines extensive corporate executive experience with large law firm experience. Professor Nagel has been named a DC Super Lawyer from 2012 through 2015, an honor reserved for five percent of practitioners. He is the Chief Tax Officer for Gannett, Inc. Professor Nagel was a partner with Crowell & Moring, LLP, Reed Smith, LLP, and of counsel with Sullivan & Worcester, LLP and served as Chief Tax Executive & General Tax Counsel for MCI Communications. Professor Nagel is a former chair of the American Bar Association’s State Tax Committee and is a nationally recognized expert in corporate taxation. Professor Nagel is the editor and principal author of the treatise: State Business Taxes and co-author of the textbook Leading U.S. Supreme Court State Tax Cases. Professor Nagel also has extensive experience handling federal securities law matters dealing with some of the largest mutual funds in the country.
