Georgetown Law’s Fall Reunion 2022: Reminiscing and Reconnecting

This month, Georgetown Law held its first fall reunion since 2019, and some 1500 alumni and guests returned to take part.

The Friday evening Affinity Mixer brought together alumni and students from a wide range of affinity organizations to compare campus life then and now and to celebrate diversity and inclusion at Georgetown Law.

The Saturday afternoon picnic featured treats, crafts and games for people of all ages.
and lots of reconnecting with old friends.

A festive Saturday night gala at the National Building Museum included a cocktail reception, dinner and plenty of dancing.
Four alumni leaders were honored with awards. Deborah L. Markowitz (L’87) received the Robert F. Drinan Alumni Public Service Award in recognition of her distinguished career as an elected official and environmental advocate. The Paul R. Dean Alumni Awards, which recognize alumni for their leadership on behalf of their alma mater and legal profession, were presented to Nelson M. Jones III (L’77, L’80), Vibha Datta Makhija (L’92) and Timothy J. O’Neill (L’77).

1977 for Legacy (highest percentage of classmates who have included a gift to Georgetown Law in their estate plans), Loyalty (highest percentage of Loyalty Society members) and Generosity (most funds raised during the reunion year)
1972 for Participation (highest percentage of classmates who made a gift of any size)
2002 for Attendance
Alumni with graduation years ending in 3 and 8, stay tuned for news about the 2023 Reunion Weekend, and start making plans to be in D.C. next fall!

Current and past members of several affinity groups, such as the Georgetown Black Law Student Association (BLSA), networked at a Friday evening reception.

Early risers took part in a Saturday morning Reunion Fun Run around Capitol Hill.

One of Washington's most dramatic event spaces, the National Building Museum, hosted the Reunion Gala on Saturday night.
