Mayor Muriel Bowser to Argue for D.C. Statehood at Georgetown Law on Sept. 4

WASHINGTON – District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser will deliver Georgetown Law’s annual Philip A. Hart Memorial Lecture on Sept. 4.

WHAT

Mayor Muriel Bowser will deliver a lecture entitled: “The Opening Argument for D.C. Statehood.” Her talk will be followed by an on-stage conversation with Georgetown Law Dean William M. Treanor.

The Philip A. Hart Memorial Lecture was established at Georgetown Law by the family and friends of Philip A. Hart, a distinguished U.S. Senator and Georgetown alumnus. A prominent scholar or professional is invited to deliver the lecture each year to promote continued dialogue on topics that were of special interest to Sen. Hart.

WHO

Mayor Muriel Bowser is currently serving her second term as mayor of the District of Columbia, since taking office in January 2015. A fifth-generation Washingtonian, she previously represented Ward 4 on the D.C. City Council from 2007-2014.
