Dear Graduating Students,

We have few updates to share with you today!

First, we have extended the deadline to submit your section speaker video applications to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11 (J.D.  graduates only). If you would like to be considered for section speaker (especially you Section 7 folks!), please complete this form, review the instructions, and upload your video.

Secondly, you will soon be receiving an email with instructions on how to register for Marching Order. You must register with Marching Order in order to participate in the Celebration Days event and the Commencement Ceremony.

We are also thrilled to announce the return of the Graduation Gala for the Class of 2022! The Graduation Gala will be held on May 21, at 8:00 p.m. at the National Portrait Gallery and is a chance to celebrate your achievements with Law Center faculty and staff, your loved ones, and your fellow graduates. The event is black tie optional and includes plenty of food, drinks, music, and fun.

With our large class size and capacity limitations of the venue, we will be allocating tickets by lottery. If you are interested in attending the Graduation Gala, please fill out this form with your name and NetID, and you will be entered into the lottery. Please note that you must be logged into your Georgetown account to submit the form.

The Graduation Gala ticket lottery will close on Thursday, April 14, 5:00 p.m. Beginning the week of April 18, those selected from the lottery will receive personalized links to purchase tickets to the event. These links will only work for your individual NetID and are not transferable.

  • Some important items of note if you are selected from the lottery:
Students will be able to purchase up to one graduate ticket ($50) and up to three guest tickets ($80 per guest). All tickets must be purchased in a single transaction. You will not be able to return to purchase additional guest tickets after your initial transaction.
  • Should you no longer need one or more of your guest tickets, you can either request a refund via Eventbrite and the ticket will be returned to the pool, OR you can offer them to a friend. However, you may NOT sell a ticket above its purchase value.
  • Once you receive your link to purchase tickets, you will have up to two business days to purchase your tickets (again, both graduate and guest tickets must be purchased in a single transaction) before the next round of names is pulled. If you do not claim all your tickets within those two business days, you are no longer guaranteed any guest or student tickets.

Please note: COVID-19 Safety
At this time, the National Portrait Gallery is not requiring visitors to wear a face covering during their visit. The Law Center is monitoring D.C. health protocols as well as internal University guidance. If attendance requirements change, all attendees will be notified immediately.

Please contact lawcommencement@georgetown.edu with any questions you may have.

All the best,
Commencement Team
