Christine Hammer

Director of Office of Event Management & Scheduling

Chris brings over 25 years of event planning experience to her role as Director. Originally from Cleveland, she moved to the DMV in the late 80’s after beginning her career in events with a Cleveland department store, and over the years honed her event planning and management skills with Long & Foster Realtors, Children’s National Medical Center and others.

Chris began her career at Georgetown Law in the Advancement office over 10 years ago, and moved into her current role in 2015, getting her back to her professional passion!

She’s the proud mom of two young adult daughters, can find an appropriate Harry Potter quote for almost any situation and obsesses every spring over the eagle cam at the National Arboretum, watching the eaglets and educating her colleagues about all things related to bald eagles!

Associate Director

Ian is a native of San Francisco, CA and joined Georgetown Law in the Office of Special Events in 2015. He attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory S.F. and received his Bachelors in Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

He brings a long and wide range of events experience to our team, from working for Stanford University, the San Francisco 49ers, the NFL, and many other clients to provide excellent service for successful events. He prides himself in being calm, cool, and collected during the stress of planning events.

Deborah Gales

Assistant Director

Deborah Gales

Deb Gales is a proud native of the great state of New York, hailing from the borough of Brooklyn. She migrated to the DMV area in 2012 and is a double Hoya, having gotten both her undergrad and graduate degrees from Georgetown.

She began her events career as a Coordinator and has since moved on to Assistant Director. Her passion for both academia and event planning blends well with the culture of the Office of Special Events at the Law Center.

Fun facts – Deb has resided in North America, Central America, South America and Europe and remains an avid traveler and student of the world!

Bridie Burke

Event Coordinator

Born and raised in the Georgetown area, Bridie joined the Special Events team in the fall of 2019. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing at East Carolina University in 2018 with a minor in Graphic Design.

Prior to her time at Georgetown Law, she worked as an Event Marketing Intern with the National Association of Broadcasters, and as an intern in Orlando with the Walt Disney Company.

She competed as a Division I athlete with ECU’s Swimming & Diving team, is a lover of all things Disney, and an avid Washington Nationals fan.


Claire Sanfilippo

Event Coordinator

Originally from Cleveland, Claire graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in International Studies and Spanish. After graduation she lived in New York City doing a year of service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps where she worked as a case manager in the Bronx.

Claire moved to D.C. in 2018 to work as a volunteer manager at Catholic Charities, the largest social service nonprofit in the DMV area. She started at Georgetown Law in 2021 as one of the Event Coordinators.

Claire is an avid lover of all things Cleveland, travel, and Lord of the Rings.

Assistant Director of Scheduling and Student Programs

A native of the sunny state and beautiful beaches of Daytona Beach, Florida, Beverly began her career in the Office of Scheduling at Georgetown Law in 2008.

Prior to joining the law center, she worked as a Professional Musician and Music Educator (K-12).  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in Music Education and a Master’s degree from Georgetown University in Arts and Liberal Studies.

Beverly enjoys supporting the arts, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Scheduling and Event Logistics Coordinator

Nancy is the acting liaison between the Office of Event Management, the Office of Student Life, the Audiovisual department, and the Facilities Management department. In addition to assigning space within the Law Center for events and classes, Nancy ensures that all Audio Visual and Facility event equipment needs are met. Prior to working at Georgetown Law Center, Nancy worked for a start-up company and various non-profit organizations as an event coordinator. Her passion for event management is fueled by her B.B.A. in Entrepreneurial Management from C.U.N.Y. Baruch College and her Master’s in Global Hospitality Leadership from Georgetown University.
