Summer Legal English Program
The Summer Legal English Program consists of a three-week intensive written and oral communication skills curriculum. The curriculum includes a two-week intensive litigation skills class focusing on a case study of a current legal issue and a week-long legal exercise incorporating both litigation and transactional skills. Students will enhance their daily, academic and professional English skills as well as their understanding of U.S. legal culture.
This is a highly selective and competitive program limited to 20 students and is open only to students who confirm their intent to enroll for the Georgetown LL.M. in the 2014-15 academic year.
Faculty members who are lawyers and Ph.D. linguists with a wide range of practical and academic experience will work closely with students for 30 hours per week, including classroom instruction four days a week. The small class size, high faculty-to-student ratio and pre- and post-program assessments will allow each student to receive individualized feedback and attention to work toward his or her professional and academic goals.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Certificate in Professional Legal English from Georgetown Law.
The dates for the 2014 program are August 4 - 22, 2014. Tuition for full-time LL.M. students is $2500.00, if the student is taking ONLY the Summer Legal English Program during the summer.
The application for Intensive Legal English and the 2014 LL.M. Summer Experience will be available on March 1. The website for the 2014 Summer Legal Experience can be found here.
