Georgetown Law hosts more than 80 vibrant student organizations that are as diverse as our student population. Student organizations provide students with opportunities to participate in social, educational, spiritual, professional networking and service related activities. In addition to on-campus programming, many student organizations maintain affiliations to a national organization and attend conferences and other off-campus events throughout the year. Student organizations often collaborate with each other and campus departments to sponsor events that bring life to the Georgetown Law Community throughout the year. Popular student-sponsored events include:
- Panel discussions with leading experts on a range of special interest legal topics: LGBTQ, Human Rights, Supreme Court cases, and Health, Immigration, Criminal, and Environment Law and more
- Moot court case competitions sponsored by the American Bar Association and Barrister’s Council
- Networking, Career Mentoring and Professional Development events with local attorneys and Georgetown Law Alumni
- Cultural and religious celebrations including Lunar New Year, Kwanzaa, Passover, and others
- Film festivals and art exhibits to showcase a variety of human and civil rights issues
- Annual Home Court basketball game fundraiser between Georgetown Law Faculty and members of Congress
- Annual Equal Justice Foundation Auction
- Habitat for Humanity builds and spring break trips
- Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society theatrical performances and cabarets
- Sports recreation and wellness events including basketball and dodge- ball tournaments, contemplative and meditation programs, and diet and healthy lifestyle programs
Each organization maintains a unique identity and selects their leadership and programming. The Office of Student Life provides training, advising, resources and support for all recognized student organizations.
