Save the Date! Georgetown Entertainment and Media Alliance (GEMA) Law Symposium on March 30

The Fifth Annual GEMALaw Sports & Entertainment Law Symposium will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 on the Georgetown Law campus.

This year's Symposium will feature two panels: First, "The Future of Music Consumption," a discussion of how the new ways in which people are able to obtain and listen to music should inform the structure of intellectual property law moving forward, and second "#2012: Politics, Social Media, & the Upcoming Election," a look at the legal implications surrounding the emergence of blogs and social media and the impact that they have had, and are currently having, on the presidential election. GEMALaw will be presenting the 2011-2012 GEMALaw Alumni Achievement Award to James Duff (L'81), President and Chief Executive Officer, Freedom Forum and Chief Executive Officer, Newseum and Diversity Institute.

SIPLA event - "A Day in the Life of a Patent Attorney" - Mon., 2/27 at 11:30am

On Monday, February 27th, at 11:30 AM in McDonough 344, the Student Intellectual Property Law Association (SIPLA) is holding "A Day in the Life of a Patent Attorney," presented by Morrison and Foerster.  It is a lunch presentation by Brad Meier, Of Counsel in Morrison & Foerster's Patent Prosecution Practice. Food catered by the firm will be provided.

Life as a Corporate Lawyer - Thurs., 11/10 at 12pm

The Corporate Law Association cordially invites you to “Life as a Corporate Lawyer” on Thursday, November 10th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in McDonough 203.  This will be a panel discussion featuring attorneys from Cravath, Skadden Arps, and Shearman & Sterling.

The panelists represent a variety of corporate practice areas including: M&A, Project Finance, and Financial Institutions. The panelists will speak about their work, what it is like to be a corporate lawyer, and provide advice for students interested in pursuing a career in corporate law.
