For LL.M. Students
Georgetown Law’s Office of Graduate Careers is staffed by a group of experienced attorneys who provide career advising services for LL.M. students and alumni.
The LL.M. program at Georgetown Law offers an unparalleled opportunity for lawyers to broaden and deepen their understanding of law. Our goal in Office of Graduate Careers is to help our students and alumni to be proactive, organized and diligent in their search for a new position in a competitive job market. Our services include:
- One-on-one meetings with Office of Graduate Careers advisors who work with LL.M. students on their professional development and career advancement skills.
- Graduate student participation in recruitment programs, including the International Student Interview Program and the Taxation Interview Program.
- Opportunities for networking and other job search strategies, including careers-related programming and events.
Many international LL.M. students hope to find employment in the United States at the conclusion of their studies. As the current U.S. legal job market is competitive for both LL.M. and J.D. graduates alike, international students should not join an LL.M. program with the expectation of gaining long-term legal employment in the U.S. This is the common experience for LL.M. graduates at law schools across the country.
