J.D./LL.M. JOINT DEGREE IN SECURITIES & FINANCIAL REGULATION

The J.D./LL.M. joint degree program in Securities & Financial Regulation enables Georgetown Law students to earn a J.D. degree and an LL.M. in Securities & Financial Regulation in a total of seven full-time semesters (or somewhat longer if they choose to complete the program on a part time basis). This program is only open to students who are earning their JD at Georgetown Law. Under this program, in connection with completion of their J.D. degree, students must complete Securities Regulation plus at least 8 additional credits of course work in courses that qualify for the LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation. Following completion and conferral of the J.D. degree, students must complete an additional 12 credits of coursework (8 credits of which must be in courses that qualify for the LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation) and must have a total (from both their J.D. and LL.M. studies) of at least 16 credits from courses that qualify for the degree (in addition to basic Securities Regulation). Students apply for the program at the end of their 2L or 3E year. Applications must be submitted between May 1 and June 30 of the 2L/3E year.
