Do I use the same application to apply to the J.D. program to apply to the graduate or Ph.D. program?

No, each program within the joint degree has separate admission procedures and separate applications. You must be admitted to both programs separately before you can enter the joint degree. Please check directly with the Admissions Office of the graduate or Ph.D. program you are interested in to make sure you are meeting all of the application requirements.

Do I have to take the GRE, GMAT or another exam?

The following programs will accept the LSAT in lieu of the GRE:

Do I pay Law Center tuition rates or graduate school rates for the joint degree programs?

J.D./M.S.F.S., J.D./M.A.A.S., J.D./M.A.R.E.E.S, J.D./M.A.G.E.S., J.D./M.A.L.A.S., J.D./M.A.S.S.P., and J.D./M.P.P. students pay Georgetown Law tuition for their first year in the J.D. program. These joint degree students will pay Georgetown University's Graduate School tuition during the one year when they take courses exclusively at the Main Campus. Subsequently (during the third and fourth year), when they take courses on both campuses, they will pay Georgetown Law tuition.

J.D./M.B.A. students pay Georgetown Law tuition for their first year in the J.D. program. J.D./M.B.A. students will then pay full-time M.B.A. tuition for their first year in the M.B.A. program. Thereafter, J.D./M.B.A. students pay Georgetown Law tuition in the years when they take courses on both campuses. This is typically the third and fourth years of the joint degree program.

J.D./Ph.D. in Government or Philosophy (full-time students):
Prior to completing all J.D. courses and at least 24 credits in government or philosophy, students will pay Georgetown Law tuition.
After completing all J.D. courses and at least 24 credits in government or philosophy, students will pay Graduate School tuition.

J.D./Ph.D. in Government or Philosophy (part-time students):
Prior to completing all J.D. courses and at least 24 credits in government or philosophy, students will pay the Georgetown Law part-time per-credit rate for all courses.
After completing all J.D. courses and at least 24 credits in government or philosophy, students will pay Graduate School tuition.

J.D./M.P.H.
While at Georgetown Law, students will pay Georgetown Law tuition (to Georgetown Law).
While at Johns Hopkins, students will pay Johns Hopkins tuition (to Johns Hopkins).

Do I apply for financial aid through the Law Center or the graduate school?

Students starting at Georgetown Law will utilize the Law Center Financial Aid Office throughout the joint program for all federal and commercial loan applications for Georgetown University, including the years of studies at the Main Campus.

Students starting at the Main Campus will utilize the Main Campus Office of Student Financial Services in their initial year for all financial aid and the Law Center Financial Aid Office for the remainder of the program.

Georgetown grant and scholarship aid will be awarded by the campus that charges tuition for each year. Law Center grants and scholarships are limited to three years.

Students pursuing the J.D./M.P.H. with Johns Hopkins will work with Johns Hopkins for the semester(s) the student is attending the M.P.H. program.
