Dear Member of the Class of 2023,
I am excited to share with you initial information about Georgetown’s 2023 Commencement Weekend events, taking place from Friday, May 19, to Sunday, May 21, 2023. Commencement Weekend includes a range of events that represent the true spirit of Georgetown and celebrate your accomplishments in the community of your families, loved ones, peers, faculty, and university staff.

I would like to draw your attention to several key events during Commencement Weekend:
Celebration Days
The Georgetown Law Celebration Days are a series of program and section-specific ceremonies hosted on the Law Center campus on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20. They begin with a ceremony on the Eleanor Holmes Norton Green, where along with remarks from myself, a faculty member, and a student speaker, your name will be read aloud for individual recognition of your achievements. We have arranged to have a professional photographer take pictures as you cross the stage. Following each section or program ceremony, you will be invited to a party on the Paul R. Dean Green, where there will be food, music, giveaways, and other exciting ways to celebrate.
Graduation Gala
The Graduation Gala will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 8:00 p.m. at the National Portrait Gallery. Stay tuned for event details and registration.
Commencement Ceremony
The Commencement Ceremony is a Law Center-wide event on Sunday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. on the Georgetown University Main Campus in which students and faculty process onto Healy Lawn. Our honorary degree recipient will address the class and Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia will ceremoniously confer degrees. The Commencement Ceremony is a meaningful tradition and a wonderful capstone to your Georgetown Law education.
