Announcing Emily Hardman as the Center's Executive Director
The Georgetown Center for the Constitution is thrilled to announce the appointment of Emily Hardman, J.D., as its new Executive Director. She will lead the Center’s many initiatives, bringing a wealth of experience and a vibrant vision to the role.
A Distinguished Career in Constitutional Law
Emily Hardman joins us with an impressive background in constitutional law. Her career highlights include:
- Helping to win five U.S. Supreme Court cases and more than 40 other federal and state cases.
- Assisting with Supreme Court nominations on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
- Serving as a Special Assistant to the 75th U.S. Attorney General, General Edwin Meese III.
- Working as a research assistant at Oxford University and completing internships with the Utah Supreme Court, the Queen’s High Court in London, a state District Attorney’s office, and an international firm in London.
An accomplished legal mind, Emily is also an adjunct law professor, teaching the course “Litigating in the Court of Public Opinion,” where she successfully mentors and inspires future legal professionals. She is a member of the United States Supreme Court bar.
Her work has been featured in numerous national media outlets, including The New York Times, Good Morning America, CNN, MSNBC, National Law Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Huffington Post.
Leadership Praises Hardman’s Impact
Georgetown Center for the Constitution Faculty Director, Randy Barnett, the Patrick Hotung Professor of Constitutional Law, shared his enthusiasm for Emily’s arrival:
“We are thrilled to have Emily join the team,” said Professor Barnett. “With her 20 years of experience dealing with constitutional law projects and her extensive background in management, she is uniquely equipped to oversee our expanding programs and lead the Center into its next phase.”
Stephanie Barclay, Faculty Co-Director of the Center, highlighted the collaborative spirit Emily brings:
“I am delighted to have Emily on the team,” said Professor Barclay. “Her energy and vision are exactly what we need to take our programming to the next level and continue to engage with critical constitutional questions.”

Emily herself is eager to dive in and contribute to the Center’s mission:
