The overall health benefits of regular exercise are well established, but law students should also know that regular exercise improves thinking, memory skills and sleep, relieves stress, and increases a sense of well-being.
Sport & Fitness Center
Georgetown Law offers many different ways to maintain your health. One of the best resources is located on the south side of the law center campus. The Ginsburg Sport & Fitness Center is free for all degree program and visiting students and is open seven days a week. The Center has a lap pool, basketball and racquetball courts, a full array of cardio and strength training equipment and much more.
Additional Resources On and Off Campus
The Center for Wellness Promotion supports a wide range of on-campus programs. The Gewirz Student Center hosts a two-floor Wellness Community for on-campus residents. Student organizations devoted to Sports & Well-being help students connect with each other and stay healthy. Dining Services provides healthy options for students eating on campus.
Off campus, students have access to even more physical wellness resources. The Capitol Bikeshare program makes it easy to peddle around the city for business or pleasure. The National Parks Service maintains the Capitol Hill Parks and nearby parks, trails, and other sites as a great place to walk, run, or hike (or go kayaking, if you’re on the Chesapeake). Some of our students even play in DC Fray rec leagues for their chosen sport(s). Washington DC is one of the healthiest cities in the nation, making it easy for Georgetown Law students to find fitness options on and off campus.
